    Associated with the Stoke-on-Trent and Kantharos Groups, circa 320-300 B.C.
    22 inches high (55.9 cm)

    The obverse depicting a woman seated on a column capital within a naiskos, holding a fan in her right hand, wearing a peplos with a himation wrapped around her legs, a kekryphalos and a fillet in her hair, with various floral, geometric and architectural decorations surrounding her; the reverse depicting a large female head in profile to the left, her hair bound in a saccos, wearing pearl earrings and a double-strand pearl necklace; a Greek wave pattern encircling below, palmettes on the upper neck, laurel and berries on the rim, palmettes and tendrils below the handles, radiating lines on the handle roots, details in added white and yellow.

    The style of the profile female head on the reverse is close to those of the Painter of the Potenza Plates, a painter associated with the Stoke-on-Trent and Kantharos Groups. See pl. CVI,2 in Trendall and Cambitoglou, Second Supplement to the Red-figured Vases of Apulia.
