This porcelain military plate with a white and gilt border, is among the early iterations of the form during the reign of Nicholas I. The center is finely painted with a Moussedine Caucasian tribesman by Dmitri Klimenov, one of the chief decorators at the Imperial Porcelain Factory. The plate has a rare and full completion date inscribed on the reverse: "ДМИТРИЙ КЛИМЕНОВЪ 1 1829 МАРТА" (Dmitri Klimenov, March 1, 1829).
