Angela Gross Folk (nee Nappi) was born in the 1930s to an Italian family in Hoboken, New Jersey. During her teenage years, she had the exciting opportunity to see her heart-throb, the young Frank Sinatra, in person, as his family was part of the local Italian American community. As a young woman, Angela worked as a medical stenographer at Saint Mary's Hospital in the city. It was there that she met and eventually married Dr. Robert Gross, a man with a deep passion for art and a keen interest in collecting various art forms, including Modern art, Haitian art, Asian art, French bronzes, and American art glass.
