    Each of baluster form, the cover surmounted by a pineapple finial, the tapering neck decorated with a portrait bust of either Marie Antoinette or Louis XVI within a gilt ribbon-tied wreath, further embellished with polychrome "jewels", on a cobalt blue ground, the body ornamented with a "jeweled" cartouche enclosing a bust flanked by reclining putti, the reverse with floral bouquets and garlands forming interlaced L's for Louis XVI and the intertwined initials MA for Marie Antoinette, framed by high-arching foliate and floral scrolled handles, the fluted lower body enriched in gilt, on a conforming socle and canted square base cast with a beaded ring

    Condition Report*: Each with losses to the gilt decoration, "jewels", and patina throughout.  Louis XVI: a chip to the inner rim of the cover; losses to the upper beaded band of the gilt bronze rim; surface wear and rubbing throughout. Marie Antoinette: a small area of damage under the gilt bronze rim.
