    Charles Catteau (1880-1966)
The following twelve lots represent the work of French ceramic artist Charles Catteau, collected over several decades by a discriminating New York private collector. Throughout his distinguished career, much of which was in association with the highly renowned Belgian firm Boch Freres, Catteau developed a unique style of ceramic decoration, evolving from his early Art Nouveau taste into a unique Art Deco, widely copied but never equaled in artistic or technical quality of execution. The work of Charles Catteau is well documented in an exhaustive catalogue raisonne: "Art Deco Ceramics Made in Belgium: Charles Catteau" by Marc Pairon, privately published for the Fondation Charles Catteau, 2006. All of the following lots are well illustrated and page references are given.
