    A Monumental Pair of Royal Vienna-Style Painted and Partial Gilt Porcelain Urns on Stands, late 19th century

    The pair of large urns each with removable lids surmounted by pomegranate finial, down to oak leaf and acorn trim, reticulated ribbing embellished with gold trim, down to gilt and foliate frieze, gilt bronze handle mounts in the shape of grotesque open-mouthed horned satyrs, bodies with central burgundy ground embellished with rich scrolling gilt foliate design, to central ovoid cartouche of allegorical woman and putti, reverse rectangular cartouche with conforming neoclassical motif, down to leafy collar mount with egg-and-dart border, two-part circular base with foliate and scrollwork embellishment throughout, down to circular carved wood base with swag and garland illustrations raised on three anthemion-leaf embellished paw feet.

    Condition Report*: Some rubbing to gilt, some losses to gilt beading throughout, one lid repaired with minor losses and stabilized cracks to underside, one standard in need of tightening, light crazing, some touch-ups to gilding, stands regilded, otherwise good condition.
