Description

Bachelder Adjustable Spring Indicator
Richardson Thompson and Company
(Thompson and Bushnell Co.)
New York, USA

Engineers should appreciate this Bachelder Adjustable Spring Indicator with Ideal Reducing Wheel which is a variety of indicator first developed in 1887. This type of indicator was used to record how the pressure in the cylinders of steam engines changed over the course of an operating cycle. This machine was in ads in a variety of publications at the turn of the 20th Century. The selling point was that the instrument was "complete for any speed or pressure, without changing of the spring, and the most convenient outfit...". This machine appears to be in very good condition and is securely presented in an antique wooden box.
