    This image is from a small group relating to avant-garde puppeteer Geza Blattner and his assistant, Sandor Toth, who operated the experimental marionette theater Arc-en-Ciel (Rainbow) in Montparnasse. The theater, highly regarded among the Surrealists, was frequented by Kertész and his wife, who counted the puppeteers among their close friends.

    Condition Report*: Overall good condition, commensurate with age. Scattered hairline scratches and small dots of matte accretion visible under raking light. Silver mirroring, particularly to the edges. Some creasing, chipping, and curling to extreme edges and corners, not visible when mat is closed. Sheet is cornered to board. Window mat measures 14 by 11 inches. Not framed.
