    AN ITALIAN SILVER AND SILVER GILT SOUP TUREEN
    Unidentified maker, Alessandria, Italy, circa 1950
    Marks: 25 AL (in lozenge), 800
    10-3/4 x 14-3/4 x 10-1/4 inches (27.3 x 37.5 x 26.0 cm)
    72.82 troy ounces


    The soup tureen of lobed ovoid form with cast and applied scroll and shell handles, raised on spreading conforming base with flat wave engraved foot and cast scrolled rim, the lobed domed lid matching the base and foot, with cast and applied vegetable and leaf knop, the lid, body and base with engraved foliate scroll decoration; gilt interior.
