The shaped baluster form cream jug with overall hand hammered finish on frosted ground, with engraved, cast and applied silver and mixed metal leaf, vine, insect, dragonfly, butterfly and mokume butterfly decoration. Bearing French import marks.
Designed by Edward C. Moore, the original working drawing for the hammering and mounting design of this large cream pitcher is preserved in the Tiffany archives (illustrated in Tiffany Silver, op. cit., page 268).
