DescriptionFORD MODEL A, 1929
Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan
Bid in the Treasure Street Auction benefiting Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children!
The item currently for auction is a green and black, 1929 Ford Model A with woven cloth interior. It can accommodate the driver and 1 - 2 passengers, plus two additional passengers in a rumble seat. The car has been professionally restored to its original specs by Monty Holmes of No Name Garage in Seattle, WA. On a 10 point appraisal scale, this one's a 12! Perfect for any automobile aficionado.
The Ford Model A, built between 1928 and 1931, was one of the most-publicized and best-selling automobiles in America. Compared to the Model T, which it replaced in the 1928 model year, the Model A was sporty, well-built and smooth-running. The Model A was the first Ford to use standard driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle and gearshift, and was the first car ever to have safety glass in the windshield. The Model A's engine was a water-cooled, L-head 4-cylinder with a top speed around 65 mph. The transmission was a 3-speed sliding gear manual unit with a single speed reverse. Sales and production of the Model A remained strong from its debut in December 1927 all the way through the Great Depression.
