AN EASTERN WOODLANDS CARVED WOOD BELT CUP
c. 1760

carved of maple burl, depicting two beavers, one in profile, each nibbling a tree branch, a sailing ship with anchor, two flintlock guns and a broom-like object, the barrel-shaped toggle attached with cotton string

Length of cup: 4 ¾ inches, excluding attachment


Condition Report*:

In overall very good condition.  No major breaks. One crack, approx. 1/2" in length, on one side. Surface with wear commensurate with age, including a couple of dings and scratches -- most noticeably one on the boat and loss to the scalloped design.  Glossy brown patina.  No apparent restoration.
