Property from a Distinguished Private Collection
During the second half of the nineteenth century, this buffalo hide robe hung in the Schloss Matzen castle, located in Austria's Tyrolean Alps. It was presumably collected by the castle's owner, an Irish aristocrat, who displayed the robe among other hunting trophies, including a pair of antlers mounted with a plaque inscribed 1877 and Wyoming Territory.
