DescriptionTeotihuacan Standing Priest
C. 200 BC-400 AD
7" Tall x 2½" Wide
The carving is made from a green stone, he wears a long skirt, shirt, belt band, the hands exposed at the waist, a two tiered headdress with large banded 'X' designs, plumes above, and lappets dropping below. The face is carved in an early Pre-Classic style with open eyes, contoured cheeks, and thick lipped mouth. The votive idol serves as a pendant with drilled holes accenting the face, the backside having a groove connecting them and allowing rope to comfortably rest. Carving has the nose chipped with old fill else, intact, excellent, with nice patina, and light encrustations.
