DescriptionVicus Double Bottle with Parrot
C. 200 BC-400 AD
6¼" Tall x 6½" Deep
The bottle is comprised of two canteen shaped chambers, joined in the center, one mounted with a tapering spout, the other with a parrot head, and a thin strap handle joining. The vessel is polished with a strong brown surface and further decorated everywhere, except the beak, with rippling bands in dark brown. The bird's round eyes are highlighted with white paint while the beak is slipped in brown. The bottle appears to have some matching repaint at the neckline and the joined area, only over light hairlines.
