DescriptionMoche Copper Tumi with Punched Designs
C. 400-600 AD
The tumi knife is cut of sheet copper with a half circle head and delicately bowed handle ,the shaft being embossed as well as hammered and punched on both sides to create a dotted banding of raised and lowered diamond shaped, triangle, and circular shapes. The example is intact with verdigris patina and textile impressions. The knife would have been wrapped into a mummy bundle as a votive tool to be needed in the afterlife.
