    Mezcala, Colima, and Chupicuaro
    C. 400 BC-100 AD
    Stone and Pottery
    3ΒΌ" to 4" Tall

The Mezcala stone idol is carved from a celt form in a pale green dense stone holding a strong patina and exhibits string cut and stone grooved features delineating the large head from the torso, large deep eyes, grooved lines for the arms, and a notched area for the legs. Intact and excellent with strong ancient encrustations. A wonderful standing Colima figure wearing a conical cap, loin cover with lappets, and holding a large conch shell trumpet. Figure is missing his rear lappets and one spike of the conch. He features a whistle within the head and overall with strong ancient patina and mineral deposits. The lovely Chupicuaro flat figure features large florets in her hair, a necklace, and rope loin cover and retains original cream and red paints.
