DescriptionMaya Tripod Incense Burner
8¾" Tall x 10" Wide
The large vessel is supported by three hollow legs with series of spikes and pie crimped flanges. The body, inside and out is with a brownware surface, the rim flaring outward and edged with a pie crimped and white painted design. Large vessels as this were normally used for burning copal in offering chambers. This example has only one area at the rim with repair, is solid condition, and is rare to retain strong traces of red and white gesso paints on the buff legs.
