DescriptionCollection of Sixteen Miniature Teotihuacan Vessels
C. 200-600 AD
Approximately 1+" Tall to 2" Diameter
This wonderful matched set of miniatures is comprised of eleven tiny jars and five offering bowls. The jars share similar forms in a saucer like shape with a bulging midsection and have various qualities of surface ranging from burnished and well polished to buff while the dishes are mostly gray polished , one with short tripod legs. Sets such as this are frequently considered to have been children's toys as well as found in association with a child's burial. Three examples have a crack or missing shard, else all others are in a wonderful state of preservation and have been left uncleaned, retaining heavy encrustations. Quite scarce to find a cache such as this.
