DescriptionCollection of Five Unusual Jalisco Figurines
C. 200 BC-200 AD
4¼" to 5¾" Tall
The very interesting group includes five particularly distinctive and scarce solid body figurines. Each figure appears to be crafted by the same hand and in an uncharacteristic style. The smallest figure has an exceptionally thin long 'sheep faced' nose, series of necklaces, a large skirt, unusually pointed breasts, and is pregnant; she has repair to an ear, else excellent. Next figure, also pregnant, wears a massive full length skirt containing an odd bundle inside; excellent condition. Three more figurines depict long legged men and women with huge beak noses and each with piercings on sides of the chest for suspension, two with red painted stripes. These three are complete, each having one or two clean breaks. All are highly odd and interesting examples.
