    c. 1910

    decorated with a polished black slip, tag affixed on the bottom, inscribed From E. I. Couse Estate. Used in many of his ptgs. AYE3

    Accompanied by two black and white photographs, one of E. I. Couse, seated before a painting, with this lot in the background, and one of this lot, inscribed on the reverse, This Santa Clara black pitcher belonged to E. I. Couse and was used as a model in hundreds of paintings by the artist. It was purchased by the undersigned from the estate of the artist. Forrest Fenn, 8-24-86
