Goes to War (Zuya Hiyaye), Brule Lakota, by Frank A. Rinehart, at Omaha, Nebraska, 1898. Title and date are hand lettered in the negative. A silver-gelatin print mounted on board,

A younger son of the mid-19th century Brule war chief Iron Shell, Goes to War wears a beaded shirt trimmed with locks of human hair which signify his own position as leader of one of the warrior societies. He was, however, too young himself to have had a career during the days of inter-tribal conflict. Those of the younger generation of chiefly families jealously guarded their prerogatives, and by common consent sons of the next generation inherited the honors of their father's record.

    Dimensions: image 6 ¾ x 8 ¾ inches

    Learn about consigning with us

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
