Description

FIVE INDIAN TERRITORY BOUDOIR PHOTOS BY LENNY AND SAWYER

Subjects include: 1 - Comanche Indians posed in front of the ruins of the Quaker Indian School near Fort Sill. The school building had burned in 1885. 2 - Comanche Indian women butchering cattle on ration day. Note the cradleboard on the left side and the dogs in the foreground feeding on scraps. 3 - Shawnee Camp, a panoramic view of tents and covered wagons encamped on the plains east of Purcell. 4 - Apache Police Camp - caption in period script, verso. 5 - Comanche Indians at a spring near Sneeds Trading Store below Ft. Sill, I.T. - caption in pencil, verso. All mounts with photographer's Purcell, Indian Territory studio imprint. Number 4 has light tones; otherwise, general condition is very good.
