    Howling Wolf (1849-1927)

    This is a drawing of a warrior society meeting, with the society leaders presented on horseback, one being identified as "Roman Nose," a famous Cheyenne warrior. The feathered lances, with their distinctive bent feature, are representations of those carried by members of the Bowstring Society.

    More Information: In overall good condition. Paper with minor loss at each corner and minor tears along the edges (one with restoration). Two light vertical stains, each approx. 1 1/2" in length, at bottom left corner. Faint mat burn around the edges. light bleeding of black ink onto surrounding areas. Some mottling of pigments apparent.
