    A UNIQUE NORTHERN OJIBWE MAN'S QUILLED HIDE COAT
    c. 1825
    in the style of a European frock coat, decorated on the sleeves with horizontal bands painted in red and black pigments, and overlaid on the shoulders with panels of geometric motifs, loom-woven in natural, blue, and red-dyed porcupine quills, trimmed with quill-wrapped fringe, the chest and back each with a pair of rosettes featuring concentric circular bands in similar quill colors, trimmed with hide thongs, finely embroidered quilled details on the neck, back and fringed hem
