    Two Northwest Coast Imbricated Basketry Items
    c. 1900

    cedar, natural and dyed bear grass, hide, globular glass beads

    Heights: 6 ½ and 7 inches


    More Information: The "canteen" in overall excellent condition. Minor loss and some fading to imbricated design. Good old patina; light dust on the shoulder. No apparent restoration. The "berry basket" in good condition. Three - four areas of loss, ranging from 1/2" to 1 1/4" in length, on the rim. Two slit holes, each approx. 1/4" in length, about one inch below the rim (for burden strap?) Another pin hole apparent. Some loss to coils on the bottom; minor loss to imbrication, mostly near the rim. No apparent restoration.
