    A Santo Domingo Polychrome Jar
    c. 1925

clay, paint, accompanied by two small photos, one of an anglo woman purchasing a pot from a native woman, inscribed ... taken at the foot ... Hill near the Indian ... of San. Domingo. The Indian woman was selling pottery. We got a little pottery from her. We drove out to the Indian village about 3 miles from this place. This picture isn't so very good as we were not familiar with camera. Will try to send some others later on; and the other, of a child holding a baby, inscribed in part... the only picture ... San Domingo Indian, ... as people are supposed to ask permission to take pictures there.

Purchased by the current owner's relative at a roadside stand in New Mexico in the 1920s. (See accompanying photographs.) Through the family by descent.

    Diameter: 11 inches
