Botanical remnants are rarer than insect remains in Amber. This example, weighing 11 grams, from the Dominican Republic contains one massive fossil leaf, which is accompanied by an unidentified beetle. The pair of inclusions is both sizable relative to the just over 2-inch (5 cm) long example of fossilized tree resin dating to the Miocene. While not quite water clear, the clarity of the item allows for ease of viewing both stars of this prehistoric diorama. In this uncommon instance, the result is a 2-for-1 of sorts with both an animal and a plant fossil inside this dark golden hardened suspension.
