This uniquely shaped piece of fossilized tree resin known as Amber offers a yellowish coloration and multiple insect inclusions. The polished specimen weighs 4 grams and showcases owlfly larva among numerous other creatures. The detail of each, especially under magnification, is intricate and superb. However, it is the extreme rarity of the owlfly that makes this example, from the Dominican Republic locality something most uncommon and highly collectible. Owlflies are rarely seen in Amber specimens, and this was only the second owlfly a major Amber dealer had seen in over 50 years in the business.
