    Description

    AMBER with INCLUSION
    Hymenaea protera
    Oligocene
    Dominican Republic
    1 x 0.46 x 0.37 inches (2.56 x 1.17 x 0.95 cm)

The fossil Amber is actually fossilized tree resin (and not sap) and has been highly valued since ancient times to modern day for its natural beauty and its unique color. Of course, the real appeal of Amber is often what happens to be "trapped" inside. Inclusions of insect and/or plant material can really create pieces that are special, interesting and collectible. This polished oval contains a rare leafy plant material. The specimen is a highly clear yellow with a three-pronged leaf structure easily visible from all sides.

It would indeed have been much simpler to work with a local auction house, and we had local options. But we never once regretted going with Heritage.
