This specimen of Baltic Amber, dating to the Eocene Epoch, approximately 44 million years ago, contains a particularly evocative inclusion of dolichoderine ants preserved in close association. Weighing just 0.75 grams, the piece is lightly colored and notably clear, with a pleasing, naturally contoured shape that enhances the visibility of the entombed organisms. The inclusion captures two worker ants in what appears to be an embrace, often described as a "dancing" posture, likely the result of their interaction while struggling within the flowing resin.
