    Lounging Blonde Nude with Conch Shell, 1949
    Watercolor and pencil on paper
    21 x 27 in.
    Signed lower right
    Vargas wrote to his friend on personalized stationery (verso): This original is dedicated to my friend Jeff Rund -- who assidiously [sic] "dug" into my stormy past -- to find one of my long lost "children" that I treasure above all others for it represents the full scope of my Beginnings: my "Billie Burke" (1919). Ah! If you could one [sic] find my 50 odd collection of "Showgirls" that graced The Ziegfeld Follies!!!!! All Best to you "Jeff." Sincerely, Alberto Vargas/ Los Angeles -- June 1976
