Condition Report*: Each on unlined canvas. Stretcher bar marks visible at edges. Minor frame abrasion at extreme edges. Finely patterned craquelure, more pronounced in some areas. Yellowing to the varnish layer. Scattered pinpoint accretions and losses. Surface dirt and dust. None examined out of frame.
Swordsman on a grey horse: Very slight undulation to canvas in lower right quadrant. An approximately 3-inch by 2-inch patch on the reverse, coordinating with a retouched repaired tear on the horse's proper right hind leg. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Aforementioned retouching to the horse's right hind leg. A few finely applied dots and dashes of retouching on the horse's face, but mostly to address prior stretcher bar marks along upper and right edges.

Absconding with a woman: Pronounced craquelure throughout. Visible retouching to the landscape in the lower half of the work. An approximately 3-inch by 2-inch patch to the reverse, coordinating with a retouched, repaired tear in the center of lower edge, just below the proper left hind foot of the primary horse. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Brushy retouching to much of the lower half of the work. Aforementioned retouching to repaired tear. A few scattered dots and dashes of selective retouching throughout.
The final charge, under UV: varnish fluoresces green, brushy retouching near the right edge.
