Height: 9 ½ inches Width: 5 ¾ inches Depth: 1 ¾ inches
This rather flat, serenely simple face mask shows signs of great age, both in overall wear and in the almost glass-like patina on the back side. Along with this obvious age goes the relatively little development of the face into space: it would have been worn against the masker's face, and not enclosing it. It may represent an early form of Ngady Mwaash, the incestuous sister-wife of the legendary founder of the royal Bushoong dynasty.
