    A VICTORIAN SILVER AND SILVER GILT WINE JUG

    14-3/8 x 5-7/8 x 5-1/4 inches (36.5 x 14.9 x 13.3 cm)
    36.73 troy ounces

    The urn-shape footed wine jug, flat chasing to concave band of foot with fluted taper to base of body, chased repoussé acanthus leaves to gadrooning at base of body over flat chased cartouche to either side (one engraved with rider and chariot) between guilloche bands at top and bottom, fluted neck to spout covered with flat shaped hinged lid with applied cast spiral, opens to silver gilt interior, straight squared handle engraved with Greek key motif spirals from mask at hinges.
