The 9 karat gold rosebowl on footed base with dragon-form gold and ivory handles, inscribed with the coat of arms of the 14th Earl of Strathmore and motto IN TE DOMINE SPERAVI.

The bowl was presented to the Earl and Countess of Strathmore on the 30th of September, 1931 by a deputation of the city of Dundee in honor of their Golden Wedding Anniversary at their home, Glamis Castle. The Earl and Countess were parents to Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, Queen Consort to George VI of England and Queen Mother to Elizabeth II.

Condition Report*: The bowl is in very good overall condition with accompanying letters and facsimile newspaper articles confirmining the origin. The base is very slightly out of round and there is evidence of a repair to the side beneath one handle
