Pastoral Scenes with Cows and Goats (two works)
    Oil on canvas
    23-1/2 x 29-1/2 inches (59.7 x 74.9 cm) (each)
One signed lower right: G. Lanfranchi

    Condition Report*:

Both unlined canvases; light surface grime; scattered frame abrasions along the extreme edges. Cows: Light, stable craquelure in the clouds of the landscape with cows, as well as a small notch of surface loss on the goat's side; under UV exam, there appear to be multiple spots of inpainting in the sky, the largest approx. 4 x 3" inches, possible inpainting in the water as well as a spot on the ground directly above (visible to the naked eye), and possible flecks in the standing cow and mountainside at far right. Goats: Under UV exam, there appears to be an approx. 2 x 2" spot of inpainting at the center left edge, as well as in the sky along the right mountain peak, inpainting along the left goat's lower back and left leg, along the center goat's head, neck and back, and on the neck and left ear of the right goat, as well as multiple flecks of inpainting along the bottom edge, but professional varnish layer makes it difficult to assess the extent of restorations. Framed Dimensions 35 X 41 Inches

While I regret my inability to personally view the work, you provided an excellent substitute for my not being able to do so, and I look forward to future Heritage auctions.
