This tiny tower of Amber will stand on its own and represents just shy of 1.5 grams of the fossil tree resin from Myanmar. Known as Burmite, this example most likely formed in a tropical environment, as marine life is found in such material. Such resinous Amber is lighter than sea water, so it would likely float, which would have resulted in forms of sea life getting trapped in the resin or growing on the surface as the piece floated. The uncommon specimen in this Amber is the calcareous base of an individual coral polyp. The piece was cut and polished to showcase the very unique inclusion, and any example of Burmite with a coral inclusion is rare. This one is tiny but has a big story to tell.
