ART & DESIGN SPEAKER SERIES // PURE COUTURE: A LESSON IN FASHION HISTORY AND HIGH DESIGN

J. Wilson Fuqua

As a fourth-generation Texan from Amarillo, J. Wilson Fuqua discovered an early appreciation and curiosity for historic, vernacular homes. Mr. Fuqua's interest in the evolution of various styles of residential architecture led him to study homebuilding at Trinity University, where he also minored in art and art history. At the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Fuqua earned a master's degree in architecture with a final study that combined historic preservation and architectural history.

Wilson Fuqua is an avid supporter of the restoration and preservation of homes in Dallas. The focus of his firm, Wilson Fuqua & Associates Architects, is restoring local homes to their original architecture. Each of his projects underscores his philosophy that one of the fundamentals of good architecture is the union of style and livability.

One of Mr. Fuqua's historic homes is included in the 2018 American Institute of Architects Dallas Tour of Homes on October 20-21, and tickets will be available for purchase following his presentation.

November : Jonathan Frembling, Archivist, Amon Carter Museum of American Art

December : Mark Lamster, author and architecture critic
