THE MAN IN THE GLASS HOUSE: PHILIP JOHNSON, ARCHITECT OF THE MODERN CENTURY

Mark Lamster

Mark Lamster is the award-winning architectural critic of the DallasMorning News, and Professor in Practice at the University ofTexas at Arlington, School of Architecture. A contributing editor toArchitectural Review and Design Observer, his work has appearedin the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, and many national magazines.

For more than a decade, he served as a senior editor at PrincetonArchitectural Press. Prior to that, he was an editor at GeorgeBrazziler, the distinguished publisher of illustrated books. Hereceived the David Dunnigan Media Award from the Greater DallasPlanning Council in 2014, and the Robert Decherd Award for CivicJournalism, the paper's highest honor, from the Dallas Morning News in 2015.

Mr. Lamster is the author of numerous books, including Master of Shadows, a political biography of the painter Peter Paul Rubens, and Spaulding's World Tour, the story of a group of all-star baseball players who circled the globe in the nineteenth century. His research papers from that book are available at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Following his presentation, Mr. Lamster will sign copies of his newly released biography of visionary architect Philip Johnson.
