DALLAS — Heritage Auctions has announced that Moyun Niu, with extensive experience cataloging culturally important works of fine art, has joined the firm as a Consignment Director of Asian Art.

"We are delighted to add Moyun's expertise to our rapidly-expanding fine art staff and her initial assignment is in our Beverly Hills office," said Greg Rohan, President of Heritage Auctions. "Her experience in market research and her ability to forge strong relationships both here and abroad make her an ideal addition to Heritage's rapid growth."

Fluent in Mandarin, Niu earned bachelor's and master's degrees from North University of China and Drexel University before earning her certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine & Decorative Arts from New York University. She assisted the Shenzhen Art Museum with its Ink-Not-Ink Chinese contemporary art collections, following a stint as an independent interior designer.

Her work with Asian Art continued in Philadelphia, where she cataloged and researched specific works and coordinated symposiums and special events for collectors and sellers. She joined the staff of I.M. Chait Gallery, Beverly Hills, where she oversaw the sale of important works of Asian art, where a 15th Century Chinese gilt bronze figure of a seated Bodhisattva sold for $280,000.

"Sharing my love and appreciation of Asian art is at the heart of who I am and I look forward to growing this important category at Heritage," Niu said. "From contemporary to Neolithic works, working closely with buyers and helping important clients build reputable collections is extremely fulfilling to me."

Moyun Niu, Consignment Director, Asian Art, may be reached at MoyunN@HA.com or 1-877-HERITAGE (437-4824).
