Elsa Schiaparelli was a famed Italian fashion designer and a rival of Coco Chanel. Schiaparelli's fashion designs were inspired by surrealists such as Jean Cocteau and Salvador Dali. This surrealist style is clearly seen in the present work by Ludwig Bemelmans.
