Heritage Galleries to Hold Decorative Arts Auction in September

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers (HGA) will hold their latest Decorative Arts Signature Auction on September 17, 2005 in their Dallas, Texas headquarters.

"This is a very special event for us," said Kevin Chapman, Consignment Director for HGA. "Not only are we offering a wonderful assortment of art glass and decorative silver, but we're very pleased to have an enchanting assortment of perfume bottles and fine purses."

"As usual, we're presenting a marvelous selection of art glass," said Chapman, "highlighted by several pieces by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including a graceful floriform vase, circa 1920, and a lovely 'Tel El Armana' vase in a red iridescent ground, circa 1900."

"Of course, there's more than Tiffany to this auction," said Chapman. "I'm very pleased to be able to offer a beautiful English overlaid and etched glass vase by George Woodall, circa 1890, which served as the cover to our full-color catalog. We also have a stunning selection for silver enthusiasts to choose from, highlighted by an American silver eglantine soup tureen from Gorham, circa 1893, formerly owned by Gertrude Rhinelander Waldo, whose New York City mansion is now the flagship store of Ralph Lauren."

"However," Chapman continued, "if I had to pick one piece out of this catalog that I'd urge collectors to look at, it would have to be the Art Nouveau clock designed by Hector Guimard, architect of the Paris Metro, that hung in the Paris Metro station at the turn of the 20th Century, and for years afterward. That's just not something you see here in the States too often. A truly exquisite piece."

"This auction also includes an assortment of rare and desirable perfume bottles and evening bags," said Chapman. "These are fine pieces, rarely seen on the collectors market, so I'm sure they are going to cause some spirited bidding. I'd urge collectors to look at this catalog closely, particularly the French porcelain dresser set by Le Tallec, an amazing 9-piece grouping of Lalique perfume bottles and atomizers, a trio of Lalique art glass perfume bottles, including the piece that adorns the back cover of our catalog, and several factices from the House of Elizabeth Taylor with rhinestone bow toppers."

"The excitement doesn't end there," Chapman continued. "Handbag collectors are sure to be thrilled by the lovely collection we've assembled here for their perusal. I'm particularly fond of the gold and gemstone evening bag made of 14K gold chain mail, the gold frame set with diamonds and sapphires, as well as the Tiffany & Co. silver and lizard wallet, and the American alligator handbag. This is an event that handbag collectors will be talking about for years to come."
