William Yarrow Masterpiece to be Offered by Heritage!

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers (HGA) will offer the original oil painting, "Nude in a Garden," by American artist William Henry Kemble Yarrow, in their upcoming Fine Arts auction, to be held November 17 & 18, 2005, in their Dallas, Texas headquarters.

"William Yarrow, who lived from 1891 to 1941, was an acclaimed muralist in the early 20th century," said Scott Barber, Consignment Director for HGA. "He was trained in an academic style at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and also studied in Paris and Florence. Kemble's best-known works were nudes and allegorical murals, including a five-panel work based on sports that was commissioned for Princeton University, and a mural depicting the history of music that hangs in the studio of Lawrence Tibbett in Wilton, Connecticut. Other works currently hang in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City."

"Yarrow exhibited at the San Francisco Pan Pacific Exposition in 1915," Barber continued, "and won the silver medal for an Impressionist nude. Although not as well known as some of his contemporaries, including Norman Rockwell, Thomas Hart Benton, and Grant Wood, Yarrow is held in high regard by collectors, a fact which has driven prices for his paintings well into the six-figure range. This particular piece, "Nude in a Garden," is a wonderful example of this important artist's work, and will no doubt make a magnificent addition to any collection."

This piece carries a pre-auction estimate of $20,000 - $30,000.
