Heritage Will Auction Dorothy Talbert Art Glass

Dallas, Texas: Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers (HGA) will offer the art glass collection of leading dealer and collector Dorothy Talbert in their upcoming Signature Auction, to be held Monday, March 21, 2005 in their Dallas offices.

"Dorothy began as a collector of Early American Pattern Glass," said Bryan Abbott, HGA's Director of Antiques and Decorative Arts, "but her interests, and her knowledge about art glass, grew and expanded over the years."

"In 1971, she became a dealer," continued Abbott, "and in 1976, she opened Show and Tell Antiques in Waco, Texas. Dot has said many times that she has had the privilege to be the custodian of many magnificent treasures over the course of her career, and now she feels it's time for others to have the joy and pleasure of owning these works of art."

"This is an extremely exciting collection," added Abbott. "Dorothy's collection, representing the vast majority of our total sale, consists of approximately 750 individual pieces, comprising over 35 pieces of Thomas Webb & Sons cameo glass including several "Gem Cameo" pieces, Tiffany, Gallé, Muller, Lalique, Loetz, Daum, La Verre, Baccarat, Sabino, Mt. Washington, Sevres, Belleek, R.S. Prussia, Wavecrest and many more. Best of all, her material is all being offered without reserve, which means there's going to be a real feeding frenzy amongst collectors. This is one sale that art glass enthusiasts can't afford to miss."

Highlights of the Dot Talbert collection include an internally-decorated Tiffany Studios floral paperweight vase, a Thomas Webb & Sons cased, overlaid and etched gem cameo vase, a Steuben "Chang" pattern Plum Jade bowl, and a rare Muller art nouveau form pitcher with an orange and metallic autumn leaf theme.
