World's Largest Collectibles Auctioneer Launches Antiques and Decorative Arts Auction
Heritage Galleries May Antiques and Decorative Arts sale in Dallas to include exquisite paintings, rare French art glass and finest quality 19th century American silver, sold without reserves.
Dallas, Texas: Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers, the world's largest auctioneer of collectibles with 2003 auction sales exceeding $123 million, announced today that it is conducting its first Antiques, Paintings and Decorative Arts Sale in Dallas on May 21-23, 2004.
The sale will feature a variety of monumental and miniature French Art Glass vases including numerous original works by Emile Gallé, Daum Nancy and others. Of note is an Arctic themed monumental cameo glass vase by Emile Gallé. The vase features Polar Bears walking amidst Bergs and Arctic Ice flow http://images.heritagecoin.com/images/HRCG/galle.jpg (Estimate $30,000 - $50,000). The art glass collection, valued at a solid six-figures, comes from a Tennessee estate; all pieces are fresh to the market, and are being sold without reserve.
Also included in this catalog is a variety of fine art from several Heritage consignors. An original Henry Gasser watercolor of a locker room full of African American Pugilists entitled "The Tournament" http://images.heritagecoin.com/images/HRCG/picture.jpg (24" X 30") is expected to set a new record for the artist. The auction also includes more than 75 paintings, mostly American and European, from a long-time New York collector. These pieces, plus several others from additional consignors, were all acquired many decades ago and have never been auctioned before. They are conservatively worth about $500,000, and are being sold without reserve.
Also featured is an extensive collection of 19th century American silver flatware and Holloware, again all being sold entirely without reserve. According to Auction Director Bryan Abbott, "the scarcest decorative patterns of the 19th century are included in this sale." Featured flatware patterns include Tiffany & Co. All the art glass and silver consigned will be auctioned without reserves, as will the majority of the paintings. Thus it is expected that bidding will be spirited.
