Silver Internet auctions debut Sept. 8 at Heritage Auctions
Second Wednesday of each month, diversity of manufacturers and types, at HA.com
“These auctions are designed for a wide variety of collectors,” said Tim Rigdon, Director of Fine Silver & Decorative Arts at Heritage, “and, subsequently, to match the budgets of those varied collectors.”
Silver and coin silver by manufacturers from America, England, Continental Europe, Mexico and South American will be auctioned with reserves set at melt value.
“We will be including a large selection of flatware, hollowware, smalls, jewelry and many unique pieces,” said Rigdon, “with the lion’s share dating from the late 19th to mid-20th century.
The auctions are designed to be a significant resource for finding antique and discontinued flatware patterns.
“We think collectors will respond to the element of fun and treasure hunting in these auctions,” said Rigdon, “which will translate into interest from a diversity of people – from the serious collector to those just starting, to someone looking for a single great wedding gift, or even a whole dinner service for a bride-to-be.”
Heritage Auctions, headed by Steve Ivy, Jim Halperin and Greg Rohan, is the world’s third largest auction house, with annual sales more than $600 million, and 500,000+ registered online bidder members.
