Fossil Fish Mosaic Mural
Cockerellites liops, Knightia eocaena, & Mioplosus labracoides
Eocene
Green River Formation
Lincoln County, Wyoming, USA

Composed of fossiliferous Limestone tiles from the Green River Formation, this mural presents an artistic arrangement of three classic fossil fish species-Cockerellites liops, Knightia eocaena, and Mioplosus labracoides. The composition evokes the natural movement of a school of fish, creating both scientific and aesthetic appeal. The piece is mounted on a cleat system for secure and convenient wall installation, allowing it to function as both a decorative artwork and a geological record of life from the Eocene Epoch, approximately 51 million years ago. A striking and expertly composed fossil mosaic, blending paleontological authenticity with refined artistic design.
