Description
MolybdeniteClark County, Nevada, USA
13 x 10 x 7 cm (5.12 x 3.94 x 2.76 in)
A very fine, weighty, older Molybdenite specimen from Clark County, Nevada. Most of the specimen is dominated by the Molybdenite, which is presented on a minor white matrix. The Molybdenite has a metallic grey hue, strong metallic luster, and foil-like surface texture, all of which work in perfect tandem to brighten the specimen's already dramatic presentation. Though it eventually found its way into the Kennedy collection, this Molybdenite specimen originally came from the collection of famous and long-time collector John Sinkankas, who was best known for his works in mineralogy and lapidary studies, regularly publishing lapidary columns in Rocks & Minerals magazine. This piece comes with the original labeled styrofoam and wooden bases.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
Ex. John Sinkankas collection.
