Description
WulfeniteOjuela Mine, Mapimí, Mapimí Municipality, Durango, Mexico
12.1 x 9.1 x 7.0 cm (4.76 x 3.58 x 2.76 in)
Here is an excellent specimen of Ojuela Wulfenite, presenting a jagged and rolling landscape of sharply terminated, elongated, pyramidal Wulfenite crystals pointing in every direction across a limonitic matrix. Many of the more sizable crystals throughout the piece, up to 1.2 centimeters, are doubly-terminated. Surrounding the crystals are smaller, velvety, dark brown clusters of what is most likely Mottramite. The associations of Motramite offer a nice contrast to the typical butterscotch orange color of the Wulfenite.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
