Description
AdamiteOjuela Mine, Mapimí, Mapimí Municipality, Durango, Mexico
7.4 x 7.1 x 3.7 cm (2.91 x 2.80 x 1.46 in)
Primarily stretching over the top side of this specimen are well over a dozen twinkling, fan-shaped Adamite sprays, all presented on a limonitic matrix. The largest of these Adamite clusters reaches 2.0 centimeters across. Characteristic of the locality, the crystals have a bright apple-green color that stands out nicely against the matrix; underneath UV light, the Adamite strongly fluoresces lime-green. Apart from the edges of the specimen, the rest of the matrix is covered in small, dark-grey associations of manganese oxides.
More Information: This piece is in excellent condition. Remnants of the previously encompassing host rock are still present on a few of the Adamite crystals.
